Alicia Bessette
pianist / composer

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Alicia Bessette's original compositions for solo piano are played on radio stations around the world.  A track from her most recent compact disc, Orchard, received a nomination for the 2009 "grassroots grammies" -- the Just Plain Folks music awards -- and Orchard was a featured selection in Napster's New Age library.

Bessette's first full-length recording, Reservoir, was released in 2002 and received rave reviews from artists such as David Lanz, in addition to Solo Piano Publications, Synchronicity Magazine, and Wind and Wire.  Both Reservoir and Orchard were recorded and produced by Benj Lipchak of Wachusett Records.

Bessette is a self-trained musician and has been playing the piano since childhood.  She's also a writer, and her debut novel, Simply From Scratch, will be published by Penguin's Dutton imprint in August 2010.  She and her husband, novelist Matthew Quick, have moved from central Massachusetts to the Philadelphia area, where they live with their retired racing greyhound, Stella B Quick.
